Sylvie Reverdy (Cello) & Claire Cocks (Piano)

This classical recital programme will include Beethoven’s sonata in A minor and Brahms Sonata in E minor plus other smaller works.

Sylvie Reverdy has performed many times in concerts and festivals throughout France and Spain as well as other European countries as soloist and leader of various classical orchestras including the National Chamber Orchestra of Andorra and chamber ensembles such as the Ensemble Instrumental de Basse Normandie in Caen and the Contemporary Music group “Barcelona 216” conducted by Ernest Martinez. Since moving to the UK, Sylvie regularly performed in the Oswestry Recital Series with Christoper Symons (Musical Director).  In recent years she performs with her own ensemble “Cuerdas al Aire” consisting of flamenco guitar and string quartet and also a string trio with the violinist Nathalie Chabot (Orchestre National de France) and violist Michel Michalakakos, soloist and teacher (Paris Conservatoire) and the recently formed cello/piano duo with Claire Cox.  She has a great passion for sharing her musicianship and skills. Currently she teaches locally at Oswestry School, Moreton Hall, Adcote school and  for the music charity MMOB.

Clare Cocks studied the piano with Carole Presland at the RNCM and graduated with a BMus(Hons) and GRNCM. During her studies at the RNCM, Clare performed as a soloist, accompanist and a chamber musician as part of several quartets, trios and duos. She won the Hilda Anderson Dean Prize for Performance and the Peter Frankl Piano Prize. Over the last twenty years Clare has continued to perform, mostly as an accompanist, while also focusing on her passion for teaching, dedicating time to developing programmes and opportunities for her students. Clare has taught in some of the leading music departments in the country including the Junior RNCM, Manchester High School for Girls, Repton, Oakham, Oswestry School and Moreton Hall School. She is currently one of the accompanists at Moreton Hall, the Oswestry Youth Music Festival and Manchester High School for Girls. In addition to playing as part of a duo with Sylvie, Clare also does some ad hoc duo work with soprano Sally Johnson and plays the violin with Musica Nova Chamber Orchestra when time allows.
