Voyage en Cellos – Sylvie Reverdie & Agnès Vesterman

Hermon Arts are looking forward to hosting a unique cello concert with two consummate musicians performing – Sylvie Reverdie and Agnès Vesterman. They will be travelling through time playing works for cello from the 18th century such as pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach right through to the present day with a beautiful piece especially composed by Garth Knox for Agnès.

Agnès Vesterman

Cellist and improviser, nourished by the great classical tradition and explorer of new modes of expression, Agnès Vesterman draws an original path between classical concerts and multiple transversal collaborations with the theatre, the cinema and other styles of traditional and contemporary music. She has recorded extensively

She toured for thirteen years as the cellist of the Arpeggione quartet (1989-2003) playing in Europe’s most prestigious venues and festivals.  Laureat of the Evian International competition, and touring worldwide, she got involved in collaborations both in chamber music and improvisation. In 2006, she formed a duo with Garth Knox, on the viola and viola d’amore performing repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary, including traditional Irish music.

She is Professor of chamber music at the Conservatoire National, Supérieur de Musique de Paris, professor of cello at the Conservatoire National Régional de Boulogne-Billancourt , and professor of pedagogy at Pôle Sup 93 La Courneuve (cello and projects pedagogy) Agnès Vesterman has integrated the rich diversity of her practice in her pedagogy.

Sylvie Reverdie

Sylvie has been lead cellist of the Ensemble Instrumental de Basse Normandie in Caen, the National Chamber Orquestra of Andorra since its creation in 1993 , member of the Contemporary Music group « Barcelona 216 » conducted by Ernest Martinez Izquierdo , played as a soloist in the « Pau Casals Festival » in Sant Salvador( Spain ) and in the Festival « Narciso Yepes » in Ordino (Andorra)

Her enthusiasm for Chamber Music has led her to play with many ensembles , and she enjoys mixing classical concerts and joining different artists (she formed the ensemble « Cuerdas al Aire » with her cousin Isabelle Laudenbach- a flamenco guitar player -and a string quartet, and has been invited to Poland twice to play in string trio accompanying « Nanu », a Catalan songwriter ; In string trio ( with Nathalie Chabot-violinist of the Orchestre National de France and Michel Michalakakos, Viola player, soloist and teacher at Paris Conservatoire) she has played in various Festivals in France, Spain and England, but their most memorable experience has been playing on a small boat in the Festival « Mar Acùstic » in a cove on the North Mediterranean coast of Spain!

Sylvie moved to Oswestry in 2005 and has been regularly playing with Christopher Symons, Musical Director during 27 years of Oswestry Recital Series. Sylvie always had a great passion for teaching and is now teaching in various Schools in Shropshire( Oswestry School, Moreton Hall , Adcote School) and is part of the teaching team of MMOB, a Music Charity providing free instrument tuition for children in need.
